Sprinter, reporter, and all-around funny gal is our Symone (Symmy). She has been active in sports since the age of three, participating not only in running but also in netball, swimming, water polo, and competitive dancing. Additionally, she is one of the few full Samoan sprinters living here in Aotearoa!

These days, she manages her time as a social media reporter at RNZ by covering events like red-carpet media gatherings and attending local sports games, while also being an incredibly dedicated, and competitive athlete.

When she’s not chatting about media or running tracks, you’ll find her devouring every book she can get her hands on while perched on her favourite bean bag.

Symmy is a fashion enthusiast both on and off the field and loves exploring thrift stores for unique finds. With a long-term ambassador partnership with the iconic sportswear brand New Balance, she consistently showcases her effortless, cool style through her fashionable fits.

She is a powerful presence and actively promotes the importance of accessibility and resources for athletes, especially in supporting Pasifika and Māori talent. Symmy is dedicated to creating inclusive environments where everyone has a seat at the table, and we truly appreciate her efforts!
